What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is a state of present awareness… a place of understanding and openness in which to encounter your-self, others and the world in which you live… learning how to live well in the presence of physical and emotional challenges... to translate this awareness into practice is the Art of Mindfulness.

Mindfulness through Yoga and Meditation

It is an integration of classic yoga postures and mind-body techniques that facilitates a powerful release of physical and emotional tension. The course will teach mind and body awareness through mindfulness yoga, mindfulness meditation, breathing and relaxation. Students are taught to use their inner resources to relieve stress and to manage body and mind more effectively.

Joanne Nowa– is a therapist known for her passionate and inspirational style of teaching that incorporates both the physical and spiritual aspects of Yoga and Meditation practice. Joanne lived in the Himalayas for twelve years where she studied healing modalities and philosophies of the East. She holds a comparative B.A. in philosophy from the University of Miami and is a certified Yoga therapist, Meditation teacher, Stress Management therapist and a certified Physical Fitness and Wellness coach. Joanne is currently the director of Yoga Gym of Montreal and the co-director of the Centre for the Art of Mindfulness
