THE ART OF MINDFULNESS

A unique 8-week group program integrating both mindfulness psychotherapy and mindfulness yoga and meditation. Individual psychotherapy or yoga and meditation sessions are also available by appointment Psychological services for individual and group sessions are covered by most extended health care plans.

WHAT IS MINDFULNESS?

Mindfulness is a state of present awareness... a place of understanding and openness in which to encounter your-self, others and the world in which you live... learning how to live well in the presence of physical and emotional challenges... meeting our challenges with attention, resilience and compassion... caring for your-self in mind, body and spirit.

MINDFULNESS-BASED PSYCHOTHERAPY

Mindfulness in psychotherapy is a course of self-discovery, understanding and self-awareness. As an approach, it becomes a way of relating directly to the changing currents in our lives, as we encounter important life events and periods of personal change and transition – illness, death, marriage, divorce, family, work, retirement.

MINDFULNESS YOGA AND MEDITATION

An integration of classic yoga postures and mind-body techniques that facilitates a powerful release of physical and emotional tension. The course will teach mind and body awareness through mindfulness yoga, mindfulness meditation, breathing and relaxation. Students are taught to use their inner resources to relieve stress and to manage body and mind more effectively.
